Are you wondering how images and short videos could enhance your brand and lead to sales? Maybe you are wondering is Instagram is right for your business? Or perhaps, you have a brand that you want to launch and are looking for a convenient way to share brand messaging?
Thinking about Instagrm for Business?
Let’s start with an overview of the Instagram app and what it has been designed to do.
Instagram is a, photo sharing, social network that was launched in October 2010 and acquired by Facebook in April 2012. Members of the Instagram community share photos and videos that highlight moments in time that they want to share.
Brands are increasingly adding Instagram as a marketing and social engagement platform alongside Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+, and Foursquare, due to its ability to generate fan engagement and loyal ambassadors. Here is a picture of one of my most engaging photos (notice, it’s not related to marketing… but it is part of my overall brand):
Why your business/brand should be on Instagram?
Instagram is the fastest growing social media platform right now and an increasingly important actor in the social media scene. To date, over 75% of leading brands already have an Instagram presence, and some are already able to advertise. As a mobile-first visual sharing network, it is shaping the ways people interact not only with one-another, but also with brands and companies.
The rise of Instagram, as a social network, is arguably one of the quickest platforms to reach critical mass and was quickly adopted by pop culture icons who welcomed the opportunity to share a glimpse of their own life with fans. Instagram is now one of the largest social sharing platforms with 200 million active community members as of October 2014.
As a result, many conversations are taking place on Instagram every day, and there’s a high chance that some of them mention your brand/business or industry you are in. Currently, I am using Instagram for business, in the sense that I too can to build my personal brand and give people a bit of a look into my life. This will ultimately lead to transparency in business and trust among potential partners and clients.
If you aren’t already setup on Instagram and want to get setup, I will take you through a few easy steps to create an account, follow @ThatsNickQ, and be apart of/start some of your own conversations.
1) You will want to think about a username. If you are already on Twitter, Facebook, or Pinterest, it would be best to use the same username on all platforms, if possible. If you aren’t already on social media, pick a name that will be easy for you to remember; such as your first name and last initial, or your email address, or even a descriptive phrase like, CatLover. Keep in mind that there will be no spaces, so it will read as one word, similar to a #hashtag.
2) You will have to download the Instagram app from the app store on your mobile device (phone or tablet). NOTE: Instagram is available on both Apple and Android devices.
3) Once you have downloaded the app, open it on your device and you will be prompted to sign up for an account. From that screen you could either enter your email address or Log In with your Facebook account.
Lastly, follow the final steps to create your username and find some people that you would like to follow.
If you are a sports fan, you may want to search out your favorite sports team. If you are a foodie, search out some of your favorite restaurants, chefs, or publications. If you want to keep up with what your customers are doing on social media, search them out as well. And, of course, you will want to find @ThatsNickQ
